Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang on February 20 received Canadian Deputy Minister of National Defence Stefanie Beck who is in Hanoi to co-chair the third Vietnam-Canada Defence Policy Dialogue.

Hanoi (VNA)๊ – Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang on February 20 highlighted the enhanced defence cooperation between Vietnam and Canada when receiving Canadian Deputy Minister of National Defence Stefanie Beck who is in Hanoi to co-chair the third Vietnam-Canada Defence Policy Dialogue.
Giang highlighted the success of the dialogue and asked Beck to convey his regards to his Canadian counterpart.
The minister expressed his delight at the progress of the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, stressing Vietnam highly values its relationship with Canada as well as the North American nation's potential and position in the region and the world at large.

Over the past time, bilateral defence cooperation has been actively promoted through bilateral and multilateral engagements between the two defence ministries. They have effectively maintained dialogue and consultation mechanisms, delegation exchanges, and cooperation in training, UN peacekeeping, defence industry, and war aftermath settlement, along with mutual support at multilateral forums and mechanisms, he said.
Giang thanked the Canadian Ministry of National Defence for its support in personnel training and UN peacekeeping engagement, helping to enhance the international integration capacity of Vietnamese officers and contributing to addressing global challenges.
He proposed that, in the coming time, the two sides will continue implementing existing areas of cooperation in accordance with the signed agreements and further strengthen collaboration in training, UN peacekeeping, defence industry, and war aftermath recovery.
For her part, Beck noted with pleasure the strong development of the bilateral relations, and her hope for stronger defence ties in the time ahead./.
