Minister commits support for ties between Vietnamese, Cambodian armies
The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence always supports and creates the best conditions for cooperation between the Vietnamese and Cambodian armies, said Minister of National Defence Gen. Phan Van Giang.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Ministr🍃y of National Defence alwayssupports and creates the best conditions for cooperation between the Vietnameseand Cambodian armies, said Minister of National Defence Gen. Phan Van Giang.
During a reception in Hanoi on October 17 for Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed ForcesGeneral Vong Pisen, Giang congratulated Cambodia on its achievements ininternal and external affairs led by the Cambodian People’s Party over the pastmore than seven decades, especially the success of the seventhNational Assembly election in July. He believed that under the leadership of theGovernment and Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodia will score greaterachievements in the near future, thus improving its position and role on theinternational stage. Speaking highly of the outcomes of talks in the afternoon thesame day between Pisen and Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’sArmy Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Tan Cuong, Giang praised theextensive and effective cooperation in various areas between the two sides,particularly in personnel training, experience sharing, border protection, andmutual support at multilateral forums and mechanisms, notably those led byASEAN. He proposed that the Vietnamese andCambodian armies seek new, practicaland effective ways to contribute to improving the role of defence ties in the overallrelationship between the two countries. On the occasion, he invited leaders of the Cambodian Ministry ofNational Defence and army to the second Vietnam International Defence Expo andcelebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Armynext year. Pisen, for his part, expressed his profound gratitude to the VietnameseParty, State, army and people for their significant support to Cambodia in thestruggle against colonialism and imperialism, helping Cambodia escape from thegenocide and rebuild its socio-economic infrastructure. Impressed by events held by the Vietnamese Ministryof National Defence, including the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2022, heaffirmed that the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence and army wouldcontinue supporting activities held by Vietnam in the coming time./.
Maj. Gen. Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), hosted a reception in Hanoi on August 18 for Lieut. Gen. Neum Balen, head of the Operations Department under the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces High Command.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang affirmed his commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation at a meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sok Chenda Sophea in Phnom Penh on October 9.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception in Hanoi on October 16 for visiting Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Prak Sokhonn.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
