La Nina is set to affect Thailand from July until January 2025 and bring more rain than usual to the northern and north-eastern regions until October, according to the weather forecast by the Meteorological Department.

Thai weather forecasters warned that high temperatures could reach 43-44.5 degrees Celsius this month, with occasional relief thanks to summer storms.

Prolonged heavy rain is expected in four states across Malaysia, warned the country’s Meteorological Department on January 16.

Thailand is expected to face the harsh impact of the El Niño phenomenon around the middle of June, although this year’s summer season is predicted to end by the middle of May. This will lead to severe drought conditions, according to the country’s Meteorological Department (MD).
