Memorial service held for Supreme Patriarch of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha
The memorial service for Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, Supreme Patriarch of the Patronage Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), who passed away on October 21 at the age of 105, took place at the Vien Minh (Rang) Pagoda in Hanoi on October 24 morning.
Hanoi (VNA) – The memorial service for MostVenerable Thich Pho Tue, Supreme Patriarch of the Patronage Council of theVietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), who passed away on October 21 at the ageof 105, took place at the Vien Minh (Rang) Pagoda in Hanoi on October 24 morning.
The Most Venerable, who led an 85-year religious life, isalso member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and head of theVien Minh (Rang) Pagoda in Quang Lang commune of Hanoi’s Phu Xuyen district.
He used to be the Vice President of the VBS’s ExecutiveCouncil and head of the executive board of the VBS chapter in former Ha Tayprovince (now part of Hanoi).
The monk was honoured with the Ho Chi Minh Order, thesecond-class Independence Order, the Great National Unity Order, thecertificate of merit by the Prime Minister, and many other noble rewards inrecognition of his dedications to the Buddhism and the secular life.
At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, DeputyPatriarch of the VBS, read the recitation of the remembrance of Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, whichsaid the Most Venerable’s life achieved three things that everyone in the worldbows to, that was, the highest position, the longest life span, and thebrightest virtue.
At the same time, memorial ceremonies for Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue were held at VBS chapters in cities and provincies nationwide, which were also connected with the Vien Minh Pagoda.
The same day, a memorial ceremony for Most Venerable ThichPho Tue took place at the Phat Tich pagoda in Laos’ Vientiane, gathering theparticipation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, the association of Vietnamese inLaos, the Lao Buddhist Coalition Central Committee, as well as many Buddhistmonks, nuns and followers in Laos./.

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee on October 22 solemnly held a funeral for Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, Supreme Patriarch of the Patronage Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), who passed way a day prior at the age of 105, at Vien Minh (Rang) Pagoda in Hanoi’s Phu Xuyen district.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.
