Mekong Delta province focuses on tourism development

Taking tourism as one of the five pillars for socio-economic development, authorities of the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu have been issuing several legal documents relating the management of the sector and boosting the exchange of information in this field with regional localities, according to insiders.

Bac Lieu (VNA) – Taking tourism as one of thefive pillars for socio-economic development, authorities of the Mekong Deltaprovince of Bac Lieu have been issuing several legal documents relating themanagement of the sector and boosting the exchange of information in this fieldwith regional localities, according to insiders.

Director of the provincial Department Culture, Informationand Tourism Cao Xuan thu Van said Bac Lieu aims to rake in 3 trillion VND(nearly 130 million USD) from tourism, an increase of from 18-30 percent overlast year, with 3 million arrivals (10 percent increase), including about90,000 foreign visitors.

To achieve the ambitious goal, provincial authorities willcontinue improving the state management over tourism, perfecting and raisingthe quality of the operation of local places of interest, and ensuring the hygienicand security environment.

They have facilitated the attraction of investment to majortourism projects in the province and developed coastal ones with its uniquecharacteristics. Alongside, they are spending big sums of money on theimprovement of traffic roads to tourist sites while developing thecommunity-based model of homestay so as to attract more visitors.

Last year, Bac Lieu province bagged over 2.3 trillion VND,an increase of more than 42 percent over the figure in 2018, welcomed about 2.5million arrivals, including 73,5000 visitors./.
