The ninth “Meet Vietnam”, which is underway in the central province ofBinh Dinh with a series of important events, is considered an idealchance for young Vietnamese scientists to meet and learn about eachother’s experience in scientific research.
Fourinternational conferences and a number of training courses have drawnover 200 scientists, including five Nobel laureates and Vietnamesemathematician Ngo Bao Chau.
More than one half of the participants are young Vietnamese scientists studying inside and outside the country.
Prof. Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the Association Rencontres duVietnam, said the highlights of the event are the opening of theInternational Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE)and an international scientific conference addressed by world famousscientists.
Every year from now, the centre willhost six or seven international conferences, creating opportunities foryoungsters who love science, he added.
Phan HongKhiem, a research student from the southern province of Binh Duong whois pursuing a PhD degree at KEK-JAPAN University, said the event hasoffered young Vietnamese scientists a chance to meet and hearmankind’s latest scientific achievements from top internationalscientists.
On this occasion, Prof. Ngo Bao Chau,Director of the Institute for Advanced Study Mathematics, met with 1,000students at Quy Nhon University to share his studying experience aswell as ways to approach scholarships.
During the6-day event, which began on August 12, attending Nobel laureates andother eminent scientists will also visit several universities in Hanoito talk with students and lecturers, inspiring passion for science.-VNA
