Nearly 800 reporters including 87 foreign journalists from 145 press agencies at home and abroad have registered to cover the grand parade marking the 70 th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2). To support the reporters, the national committee for major events organisation opened a press centre in Hanoi on August 31 at the National Assembly House. Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan pledged optimal conditions for domestic and foreign reporters to cover the country’s major celebrations, especially the grand parade and meeting on September 2. The official expressed his hope that the press agencies would broadcast the events swiftly and accurately to people of all social strata.
He urged the journalists to strictly abide by the committee’s regulations to ensure security and safety for the meeting. The massive parade, which will be broadcast live on the Vietnam Television, is expected to involve 30,000 people, including representatives from armed forces and various social backgrounds such as war veterans, workers, farmers, entrepreneurs, youth, women and ethnic minority people. They will march from Ba Dinh square and go along major downtown streets in Hanoi in two directions, one heading to Nguyen Thai Hoc-Kim Ma-Lieu Giai, and the other to Nguyen Thai Hoc-Hang Khay-Trang Tien-Opera House. Themed “Promoting the strength of the entire nation and determined to build and firmly defend the Socialist Republic of Vietnam,” the parade aims to affirm the great historical values of the August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in the history of the nation’s multi-thousand-year construction and defence.
Prior to the march, a 21-gun salute will be fired from the Thang Long Royal Citadel, said the committee. On September 1, leaders from the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and Hanoi will pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and to national heroic martyrs at their monuments in the capital city. Following the march, a major art performance will be held featuring a series of famous singers. Another immense music show will be organised on the evening of September 2. Firework displays will be fired in five locations in Hanoi, including Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, Van Quan Lake, My Dinh Stadium, and West Lake.
On the occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has designed and published a badge on the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day to be worn by all participants in the parade.-VNA
