Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian police have arrested ten suspected militants who were planningto attack a number of entertainment centres in Melaka - a famous tourist destinationof Malaysia - and a Middle-East country.

The terror suspects were arrested in Selangor,Pahang, Johor, Terengganu, Melaka, Kelantan and Penang between, according toMalaysia's Inspector-General of Police Mohd Fuzi Harun.

Fiveof the arrested belonged to a terror cell known as Ar Rayah. The men, agedbetween 18 and 50, were arrested in Melaka, Kelantan and Penang. They wereplanning to launch smoke bomb attacks in vice outlets around Melaka. Five smokebombs were seized, he said.

The leader of the group,a foreigner aging 50, is a member of a terror organisation in a Southeast Asiancountry.

Therest five, aged between 39 and 53, belong to a terror cell known as Asoib orYouths From the East in the states of Selangor, Pahang, Johor and Terengganu.

They had planned to team up with another terrorgroup in a Middle Eastern country to launch attacks on a bordering nation, Fuzisaid. The plan was for them to be supplied with weapons by the terror groupwhen they arrived, he added.-VNA
