Malaysia’s National Revenue Recovery Enforcement Team (NRRET) has arrested 56 foreign women, including 34 Vietnamese, in a big raid at four entertainment facilities in Johor Bahru city.
Hanoi (VNA) – Malaysia’s National Revenue Recovery Enforcement Team(NRRET) has arrested 56 foreignwomen, including 34 Vietnamese, in a big raid at four entertainment facilitiesin Johor Bahru city.
The others arrested in the raid included20 Chinese women and two Indonesians. All of them aged from 19 to 34 and workedas guest relation officers (GROs).
Kamarul Zaman Mamat, director of Johor state’sinvestigation police, said the campaign began at the midnight of January 13 andended at 9am on January 14 with the participation of Johor State’s police,NRRET and relevant agencies.
The authorities also arrested fourNepalese men and two Myanmar people aged from 22 to 37. These men failed to produceany legal documents.
Five Malaysian men and two Malaysianwomen, who are security staff and cashiers aged from 19 to 50 were alsoarrested.
Of the Malaysians, Kamarul said, six areon the warranted list. Ten foreign women aged from 17 to 30 thought to work as waitresseswere rescued in the raid.
At an entertainment centre, the policearrested two men and 13 Vietnamese women worked as GROs and one Chinese womanin the warranted list.
One Vietnamese woman thought as a victimof human trafficking was rescued. The police also arrested 29 patrons of thecentre, seven of them tested positive to drug. An amount of drug worth 4,500USD was confiscated.
Six customers who are public servantswere arrested as well and were handed over to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for handling.
