Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Malaysian governmentplans to set up 1,000 Family Digital Economy Centres (PEDi) throughout thecountry by the end of next year, Malaysia's national news agency Bernama reported, citing Communicationsand Multimedia Minister Annuar Musa.
Speaking to reporters, Musa said that PEDi, rebranded fromexisting community internet centres, is expected to be launched throughout thecountry in areas which do not have the facility yet. He added that while previously the broadband network wasonly used for communication, the facility was now made available by thegovernment to transform lives, including increasing people's income throughonline marketing of village products. The Malaysian minister said a good education could changelives, and therefore it was important to help students through the extension ofdata aid, gadgets and other internet-related learning facilities with theparticipation of private companies./.
