Kuala Lumpur (VNA) –About 170 Malaysian companies attended a seminar on investment in Vietnam andopportunities offered by the equitisation process of state-owned enterprises (SOEs)held in Kuala Lumpur on November 24.
The event was co-organised by theVietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and the Malaysia External Trade DevelopmentCorporation (MATRADE).
Dang Quyet Tien, deputy head of theAgency for Corporate Finance under the Ministry of Finance briefed theparticipants on the equitisation process of SOEs in Vietnam.
He also introduced the Vietnamesegovernment’s equitisation policies and highlighted investment opportunitiesgenerated from the process.
Malaysian businesses showed theirinterest in the issue through discussions on the various aspects of the topicand the Vietnamese investment environment.
They also asked for moreinformation on macro and micro issues such as investment procedures, propertyownership and exchange rate, among others.
The event is part of activitiesof the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia, aiming to promote and attract investorsfrom Malaysia, said Pham Cao Phong, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia.
He also expressed his hope thatMalaysian companies will understand better and be able to grasp theopportunities brought by the Vietnamese equitisation process, thus making plansand implementing projects in Vietnam.-VNA
