Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Malaysia will consider retaliating against theEuropean Union (EU) if it goes ahead with its unfair measures against palm oil.
Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said the government had agreed that Malaysiashould be more aggressive on the matter, Malaysia’s news agency Bernamareported.
"In fact, we have written to all the heads of government of the EU and wehave pointed out to them that we may need to retaliate if they continue withthis discrimination against palm oil," Bernama quoted the PM as saying afterhe chaired a Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption meeting on March 19.
Earlier, the Malaysian government said it would consider retaliatory actionsagainst European exports if the EU proceeds to implement the Delegated Act to phaseout and ban palm biodiesel.
The proposed EU Delegated Act -- slated to be tabled before the EuropeanParliament in this April -- supplements the EU Renewable Energy Directive II torestrict and ban palm oil biofuel altogether by 2030. - VNA
