Bangkok (VNA) ♌― Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak made an official visit to Thailand on September 9 for the sixth annual consultation (AC) between the two countries.

The visit was made at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
During the AC, the most important cooperation mechanism of the two governments, the two PMs discussed measures to further the relations in the context of the upcoming 60 th founding anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties in 2017 and the newly-established ASEAN Community. They witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on development of rubber industrial zones in the border areas.
Topics of discussion also included security cooperation, including border management, fighting against transnational crime, terrorism and human trafficking, and conducting surveys on the building of a wall along some sections of the shared border line. Besides, the two PMs talked on how to promote peaceful dialogue in Thailand’s southern border provinces with support from Malaysia and cooperation in tourism, investment and cross-border transport, among others. They agreed that the two sides will consider the goal of raising bilateral trade value to 30 billion USD by 2018.-VNA
