Malaysia starts new drug addiction rehabilitation programme

Malaysia has begun a new drug rehabilitation programme which is expected to bring about better outcomes and reduce the rate of re-addiction.
Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Malaysiahas begun a new drug rehabilitation programme which is expected to bring aboutbetter outcomes and reduce the rate of re-addiction.

The trial, led by the NationalAnti-Drugs Agency (Nada), have sent 200 addicts to the National Service (NS) campin Selangor state’s Semenyih, where they will spend two months learning trainingmodules focusing on re-integration into society.

The programme is also expected toimbue participants with nationalism and patriotism.

Society-based rehabilitation fordrug addicts is a trend worldwide, said Nada director general Abdullah HalimMohd Hussin.

He revealed that in the future,drug addicts who seek treatment can voluntarily join the programme at the NScamp.-VNA
