Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia’s Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced several initiatives aimed at enhancing teacher capacity in digital technology.

These initiatives include providing opportunities for teachers to enhance their skills through technology empowerment courses, especially in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with an allocation of 1 million RM (about 213,584 USD) and targeting 500 selected teachers nationwide, said Minister Fadhlina Sidek said in a remarks at a ceremony on the occasion of 2024 National Teachers’ Day.

She said that MOE will collaborate with Apple Professional Learning Specialist Malaysia to train and guide 100,000 teachers to be recognised as ‘Apple Teachers’.

Besides, 1,000 teachers will be selected to attend courses to be certified as digital professionals.

Meanwhile Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the government aims to provide each student with a device to facilitate digital learning.

Despite financial constraints, the government would try to implement the initiative in phases, expected to begin as early as this year.

ꦛ He emphasised that equipping each student with a tablet is the ministry's aspiration, adding that this method of learning through devices is inevitable, and providing tablets to students is the right thing to do even with financial constraints./.
