Malaysia imposes anti-dumping tax on VN packaging

Malaysia has levied anti-dumping taxes on Vietnam 's Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) film, a kind of polypropylene film used for packaging processed foods, according to the Vietnam Competition Agency (VCA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Thetaxes, which range from 2.59 percent to 12.37 percent, were imposed byMalaysia 's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) andare effective between April 23, 2013 and April 23, 2018.
Anti-dumping duties were also imposed on BOPP imports from Taiwan , Thailand , Indonesia and mainland China .

Malaysiainitiated an anti-dumping investigation into imported BOPP in 2011after San Miguel Yamamura Plastic Films complained that foreign dumpingwas hurting the Malaysian BOPP industry.-VNA
