Hanoi (VNA)𝐆 – Malaysia’s government on January 26 confirmed a large piece of curved metal found off the coast of southern Thailand does not belong to Malaysia Airlines MH 370, which disappeared nearly two years ago.

The Malaysian Transport Ministry said a group of experts from both the government and the carrier had investigated and concluded the debris does not match that of a Boeing 777.
The announcement came one day after Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation revealed that the piece of metal found off the coast of Thailand on January 23 may belong to a missile used for launching satellites. The disappearance of MH370 is one of the greatest mysteries in aviation history. It vanished with 239 people on board during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014.
Investigators believe the plane went down in a remote area of the Indian Ocean. In July last year, a piece of the plane washed up on the French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean but no further trace has been found.-VNA
