Nearly 500 flights will be affected as Malaysia closes its airspace near Kuala Lumpur International Airport every morning for five days next week in preparation for national day celebrations.

KualaLumpur (VNA) – Nearly 500 flights will be affected as Malaysiacloses its airspace near Kuala Lumpur International Airport every morning forfive days next week in preparation for national day celebrations, the country’sMinistry of Transport said on August 21.

A total of498 flights in and out of the airport are expected to be affected as theclosure is scheduled to take place from 9.30 am to 10.30 am from August 27-31.

Theministry said the closure is important to guarantee the success of the NationalDay 2018 flypast.

Ithighlighted its priority of ensuring the safety of the airspace and movement ofaircraft at the airport.

It saidthere might be flight delays and advised the public to contact airlines andairport authorities to get the latest information and schedules.

Malaysia’sannual National Day parade will be held Putrajaya on August 31, featuring anaerobatic performance by the air force. –VNA
