Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese tennisplayer Ly Hoang Nam has become the No 1 seed in Southeast Asia region, as perthe latest ATP world rankings released on July 24.
Nam is No 471 in the world, which is fiverungs higher than the previous week.
The national No 1 player grabbed threepoints, making it a total of 81, after his quarter-final finish at the ChinaF12 Men’s Futures last week.
Nam’s ranking – also Vietnam’s highestworld ranking till date – has helped him replace Indonesia’s ChristopherRungkat (No 475) as the best regional athlete.
In the doubles ranking, Nam jumped 80 stepsto No 415.
Nam is set to compete in the Thailand F4tournament, which kicks off on July 31 in Nonthaburi Province. He is No 1 seedin the competition. His teammates Nguyen Hoang Thien and Trinh Linh Giang willalso play in the singles category.-VNA

Vietnamese tennis player Nguyen Van Phuong won the final match in the men’s singles at the U18 Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Circuit – BECAMEX Cup 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City on July 22.
The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.

The U23 competition will run from June 16 to 22, followed by the U17 event from June 23 to 28, while athletes competing in the U23 category will undergo weight and skill checks ahead of the matches starting June 18, while similar checks for U17 athletes will take place before June 23.
Vietnam continues to sit just behind continental powerhouses Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, China, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
