Lithuanian President begins official visit to Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA)ꦰ – Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda and his spouse Diana Nausediene, along with a high-ranking delegation of Lithuania, arrived in Hanoi on June 11, beginning an official visit to Vietnam from June 11-12 at the invitation of State President Luong Cuong.
Welcoming the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland and Lithuania Ha Hoang Hai.

In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) ahead of the visit, Lithuanian Ambassador to Singapore and Vietnam Darius Gaidys noted that this is the first-ever visit to Vietnam by a Lithuanian head of state. The visit is focused on strengthening political cooperation and significantly promoting economic and trade relations.

President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda and Spouse are paying an official visit to Vietnam on June 11 - 12 at the invitation of State President Luong Cuong. This is the first high-level visit by a Lithuanian head of state to Vietnam in many years, marking a highly significant diplomatic event that demonstrates the two countries’ appreciation of their traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations.
Vietnam and Lithuania officially established diplomatic ties on March 18, 1992. Over the past three decades, grounded in mutual political trust and goodwill, bilateral relations have steadily expanded across multiple sectors.
The Vietnamese Government always treasures and wishes to strengthen its relations with Lithuania, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis in Hanoi on October 25.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State place great importance on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia in a substantive and effective manner, in line with the development needs of both nations.
At the conference, participants reported that the Government has so far issued 28 decrees on the delegation of responsibilities and powers between the central Government and two-tier local administrations. Several localities have already piloted the new governance model.

Under the official dispatch signed on June 20, ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, and chairpersons of provincial and municipal People’s Committees are requested to concentrate efforts on implementing core measures to ensure the smooth operations of the new administrative framework.
