Legislators cast confidence votes on October 25

Hanoi (VNA) – The 14th NationalAssembly conducted a vote of confidence on 48 officials holding positions elected and approved by thelegislature during its sixth session in Hanoion October 25.

According to results announced the same day, VicePresident Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh earned “high confidence” rating in 66.5 percentof votes and “confidence” by 30.1 percent of votes. 

The rate of “high confidence” for NationalAssembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan was 90.1 percent of votes and that for“confidence” - 7.01 percent. 

Meanwhile, 81.03 percent of deputies gave PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc high confidence votes and 14.2 percent cast theirconfidence votes on him. 

Minister of Education and Training Phung XuanNha scored the lowest confidence, with 28.87 percent of high confidence votes,40 percent of confidence votes and 28.85 percent of low confidence votes. 

The NA passed a Resolution on the outcomes ofconfidence votes with 95.67 percent of approval.

Also on October 25, after hearing Chairwoman ofthe NA’s Committee for Judicial Affairs Le Thi Nga presented a report on the verificationand amendment of the draft revised Anti-Corruption Law, the deputies debatedcontentious contents of the bill.

They also mulled over the draft Law on Protectionof State Secretes.

OnOctober 26, the legislators are scheduled to look into the implementation ofthe NA’s resolution on the socio-economic development plan in 2018, mid-term assessmentof the realisation of 2016-2018 plans on socio-economic development andeconomic restructuring, the socio-economic development plan in 2019 and thethree-year implementation of policies in support of socio-economic developmentin ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas.

Theywill also discuss Resolution No. 100/2015/QH13 on investment in national targetprogrammes for the 2016-2020 period.

Theplenum will be broadcast live by the Vietnam Television, Radio the Voice ofVietnam and the NA’s TV channel.-VNA
