Legendary goalkeeper to visit Vietnam

Manchester United (MU) ambassador and former goalie Peter Schmeichel will visit Vietnam at the invitation of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV).
Manchester United (MU) ambassador and former goalie Peter Schmeichelwill visit Vietnam at the invitation of the Bank for Investment andDevelopment of Vietnam (BIDV).

He will attend thesigning of a cooperative agreement between his club and BIDV in Hanoion April 24 before meeting with fans at an event to introduce theBIDV-MU Bronze Card in Ho Chi Minh City one day later.

MU players’ gifts, including the club’s jersey and ball with signaturesof all the first squad, Peter Schmeichel’s gloves and famous defenderRio Ferdinand’s shoes will come up for a charity auction to be held byBIDV on April 25.

Proceeds from the auction will bepresented to the Know the Heart Foundation to provide free heart surgeryfor Vietnamese children.

As the most outstandinggoalkeeper in the club’s history and in the world, Peter won fivePremier League titles, three FA Cups and one Champions League after morethan a decade playing for Manchester United.

He wasthe decisive factor behind the club’s great triple in 1999 together witha dream team of other legends, including Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, RoyKean and Paul Scholes.

The International Federation ofFootball History & Statistics (IFFHS) has chosen him as one of theten best goalkeepers in the 20th century.

His name waslisted at the English Football Hall of Fame in 2003 and also one of theFIFA100 selected by the King of Football Pele.-VNA
