
HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Morethan 30 leading Vietnamese producers of garments, textiles, handicraftsand fashion accessories will be showcasing their products at one of Asia’slargest exhibitions to be held in Hong Kong at the end of this month.
Goods to be displayed atthe show include apparel, fashion jewelry, underwear, swimwear, bags,luggage, scarves, footwear and fabrics all under one roof.
The four-day Global SourcesFashion show will feature verified suppliers from major fashion manufacturinghubs, including Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea,Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The exhibitors from Vietnaminclude members of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association(VITAS), Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group, and Handicraft andWood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City.
With over 1,800 booths, the fairis expected to welcome 12,000 buyers from 150 countries and territories, includingthe US, the European Union, Hong Kong, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Middle East, andSouth Africa, among others.
The one-stop sourcing showis expected to witness growing participation from branded firms, including morethan 500 exhibitors worldwide promoting their own designs and brands.
The event will also featurefashion parades and industry-related conferences, according to theorganiser Global Sources.
Pham Thiet Hoa, Director of theHCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC), told Vietnam News prior to theevent that the centre was supporting most of the exhibitors from Vietnamto participate in the trade show as part of its mission to help businesses inthe city as well as attract more foreign investment to Vietnam.
“Hong Kong is a major sourcinghub in Asia that helps connect buyers from the EU and the US and beyond,” hesaid. “Vietnam has become a more attractive complementary garment andtextile sourcing destination for buyers from around the world.”
This year the textile and garmentsector has set a target of 40 billion USD in exports, up 11 percentyear-on-year, according to VITAS.
The sector is expected to enjoy atrade surplus of 20 billion USD, and create jobs for around 2.85 millionworkers.
Last year, the sector earned 36billion USD worth of exports, up 16 percent year-on-year, making the countryone of the three biggest exporters of textiles and apparel in the world.-VNS/VNA
