Laos’s COVID-19 cases continue to rise within community

Vientiane (VNA) – Laos detected 1,425 newcases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, with only one imported case, theLao Health Ministry said on December 1.

According to the ministry, the latest infections werefound in 18 cities and provinces, with eight fatalities.

The number of infections in Vientiane still remainedhigh, at 576, and most of the deaths were recorded in the capital city.

The new infections have brought Laos’ total caseload to75,163, with 178 fatalities.

The Lao government has asked localities to seriously observeissued pandemic prevention and control measures, while preparing the budget forpurchasing medical supplies, vaccines and treatment drugs to serve the pandemiccombat.

The country has recently received a batch of medicalsupplies worth more than 600,000 USD donated by the Japanese Government throughthe United Nations Project Services Agency (UNOPS)./.
