Vientiane (VNA) - A grand ceremony commemorating the 70th founding anniversary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) was held in Vientiane on March 22.
The event saw the attendance of LPRP General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, and President of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane, along with former senior leaders of the Lao Party, Government, and National Assembly, and representatives from diplomatic missions and international organisations based in the country.
In his address, LPRP General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith reviewed the Party’s glorious 70-year journey, during which the Lao people overcame countless hardships to achieve historic victories in the struggle for national liberation as well as national building and protection.
He stressed that the Party has consistently prioritised the interests of the country and its people, maintained close ties with the public, and regarded them as an endless source of strength. He underscored the Party unity as the solid foundation to preserve Laos’ independence and freedom while enabling creative approaches to policy making and revolutionary leadership.
He also took the occasion to express profound gratitude to various political parties and international organisations, particularly the Communist Party of Vietnam, as well as friendly nations and strategic development partners, who have provided invaluable support to the LPRP and the Lao people in their struggle for national liberation and ongoing efforts to protect and develop the country./.
The exhibition offers visitors a journey through history, reflecting on the party leadership in Laos' revolutionary struggle for national liberation, as well as its role in and contributions to nation-building, development, and recent reforms.
