Laos will learn from Vietnam’s socio-cultural development experience as the country is striving to fulfil the United Nations Millennial Development Goals, said Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotu. Hosting a reception for Head of the NA Committee for Social Affairs Truong Thi Mai in Vientiane on August 3, Yathotu spoke highly of recent cooperation between the two legislatures.
She informed the Mai that Laos is preparing to establish local People’s Councils and is keen to learn from Vietnam’s experience in this regard. Yathotu expressed her hope that the Vietnam’s NA Committee for Social Affairs and Lao NA Committee for Cultural, Social and Legal Affairs would continue working closely together and sharing experiences.
Mai informed her host of the outcomes of the working sessions with the Lao NA Committee for Cultural, Social and Legal Affairs held in the morning of the same day, affirming that the two sides will deepen bilateral links. Earlier the same day, Mai held a working session with Head of the Lao NA Committee for Cultural, Social and Legal Affairs, Professor Phonethep Phonsena, during which they agreed to dig deeper into the specific cooperative contents of personnel training. During its stay from August 2-8, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to hold working sessions with the Ministry of Health and the Pasteur Institute of Laos.-VNA
