The five-day event, held by the municipal People’s Committee and the Consulate Generalof Laos in the city, attracted the participation of 100 businesses from Laoprovinces and city.
Huynh Cach Mang, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said the weekwill bring Lao products closer to Ho Chi Minh City’s consumers, thus promotingtrade collaboration between the two nations, he noted.
Meanwhile, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Thongsavanh Phomvihane said that Laobusinesses see Vietnam as an important market and the event aims to createopportunities for business from both sides to meet, exchange information andseek long-term cooperation.
Seminars on investment promotion and business-matching events for Vietnameseand Lao firms will be held on the sidelines of the week.
Trade between Vietnam and Laos topped 900 million USD last year, a year-on-yearincrease of more than 10 percent. The two countries have set a target of 4billion USD in two-way trade by 2020.
