Lao Ambassador makes Tet visit to Vietnamese Embassy in France
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang and head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO Le Thi Hong Van have received a delegation from the Lao Embassy – led by Ambassador Kham-Inh Khitchadeth – who came to deliver their Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings.

Paris (VNA) - Vietnamese Ambassador to FranceDinh Toan Thang and head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO LeThi Hong Van have received a delegation from the Lao Embassy – led byAmbassador Kham-Inh Khitchadeth – who came to deliver their Lunar New Year (Tet)greetings.
Kham-Inh Khichadeth said the visit is his first diplomaticactivity since taking office in January.
The two sides expressed their delight at progresses recorded inthe Vietnam – Laos special solidarity last year with the organisation of aseries of important diplomatic events despite COVID-19.
Thang highlighted that 2022 marks the 60th founding anniversary ofdiplomatic ties and 45 years of the signing of the Treaty of Amity andCooperation between the two countries, and suggested the promotion of cooperation and mutual supportbetween the Vietnamese and Lao representative agencies to co-organise activities incelebration of the “Year of Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Friendship andSolidarity” this year.
The two ambassadors also agreed to pay attention to theirbilateral information sharing and exchanges, particularly between young diplomats,contributing to the implementation of the Vietnamese and Lao foreign ministries’cooperation agreement for 2021 – 2025./.
The Vietnamese Embassy in France has organised a Lunar New Year (Tet) celebration in both virtual and face-to-face manners, gathering nearly 150 guests across France and Portugal.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.

In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
