Lao Ambassador gives banquet on National Day

Prominent among Vietnamese guests were Truong Tan Sang,member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC)’sPolitical Bureau and permanent member of the CPVCC’s Secretariat; NguyenSinh Hung, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, andTong Thi Phong, CPVCC’s secretary and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman.

Addressingthe event, Ambassador Sayachak said on Dec. 2, 1975 the Lao DemocraticPeople’s Republic was established, ushering in a new era in the historyof a long-lasting, arduous and glorious struggle of the Lao people – anera when they become the real master of their destiny and an independentand free country.

He stressed that over the past 35 years, underthe leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), hiscountry has made positive changes in all fields: a stable politicalsituation and social order, continuous socio-economic development,recording an annual growth rate of 7 percent in the 2006-2010 period.Laos’s international relations have been expanded and by 2010, thecountry has established diplomatic ties with 132 countries andterritories worldwide.

The ambassador said he was proud with thespecial rapport and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnamthat has been continuously strengthened and developed. Their top leadersregularly exchange visits, the relations in economic-trade,scientific-technological, educational, social-cultural, nationalsecurity and defence and diplomatic fields have been intensified.

From1989 to the end of 2010, Vietnam injected nearly 3 billion USD in morethan 200 projects in Laos, ranking among leading foreign investors inthis country.

Cooperation in personnel training now is one of toppriorities. In addition, cooperation between the two countries’localities has also been beefed up, contributing to Laos’ssocio-economic development.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Party,State and people, Deputy PM Hung congratulated the Lao Party and peoplefor their historical achievements over the past 35 years.

Heexpressed his gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh and President KaysonePhomvihane, and other leaders, heroes and soldiers of the two countrieswho bravely fought for and fostered and built up the special friendshipbetween Vietnam and Laos.

He affirmed the Vietnamese Party andState’s consistent policy to respect and maintain the rapport. “Vietnamwill do its utmost to reinforce the special friendship with Laos, andstrive to bring it to a new height for the mutual interest of the twopeoples,” he said.

Ambassador Sayachak and his guests raisedtoasts to wish the two countries gain more successes in their nationalconstruction and development, and their special ties to be foreverstrong./.
