Seoul (VNA) - Vietnamese Ambassador to theRepublic of Korea (RoK) Nguyen Vu Tung presented his credentials to Korean PresidentMoon Jae-in in Seoul on October 16.
The Korean President welcomed the new ambassador takingup office despite the effects of COVID-19 on his daily life and work.
He highlighted the important role of the ambassadorand the Vietnamese embassy in connecting and promoting cooperation between thetwo countries in both bilateral and multilateral aspects.
Moon expressed his thanks for the support from theinternational community, including Vietnam, to the country’s efforts in promotingthe peace process on the Korean Peninsula, as well as facilitating the developmentof multilateralism, especially in the field of international trade, COVID-19prevention and control, and climate change response.
For his part, Tung expressed his pleasure at taking onthe role as the ambassador to the RoK, at a time when the strategic cooperativepartnership is flourishing and ASEAN and the RoK are implementing the RoK’s NewSouthern Policy.
He vowed to work hard to make contributions to thedevelopment of Vietnam-RoK ties as the two countries are looking forward to the30th anniversary of diplomatic relations (December 12, 1992-2022)./.
Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) should continue supporting each other and sharing experience in COVID-19 prevention and control and treatment to boost bilateral relations in a new situation.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
