Kien Giang hosts wildlife conservation camp for youth

Thestudents, who are the winners of a video clip and writing competitionon calling for young people to engage in protecting wildlife, arrived atthe Rescue Station on June 19 to join in the Summer Movement 2015, heldby the Wildlife At Risk (WAR) and the Douc Langur Foundation (DLF).
Theywill be trained in skills to persuade others to join hands inprotecting wildlife animals, take photos of wild animals and survive inthe jungle, as well as study relevant jobs related to wildlifeprotection. Furthermore, the students will try their hands at takingcare of animals and planting forests.
The camp, which has beenheld annually at the WAR’s initiative since June 2013, will createvaluable opportunities for volunteer students to improve their knowledgeand skills to conserve nature, including wild animals, said Do ThiThanh Huyen, Wildlife Education Manager from WAR.
Hon Me WildlifeRescue Station, covering an area of nearly 3 hectares, was establishedin April, 2008 by WAR and the Kien Giang provincial Ranger Department.Currently, some 50 individuals of animals are given shelter at thestation, including Asian black bear, sun bear, yellow-cheeked gibbon,Indochinese lutung and pangolin.-VNA
