Kien Giang delegations extend greetings to Cambodia on Chol Chnam Thmay festival

Kien Giang (VNA) ♔– Delegations from the southern province of Kien Giang have visited, extended greetings, and presented gifts to localities, agencies, and armed forces in Cambodia on the occasion of their Chol Chnam Thmay festival.
The annual activity aimed to further strengthen the solidarity, friendship, and mutual understanding between Kien Giang and Cambodian localities and units.
Leaders of the Cambodian provinces, agencies, and armed forces expressed their delight at welcoming the Kien Giang delegations and appreciated congratulations by the Vietnamese guests.
During the meetings, the delegations from Kien Giang briefed their Cambodian counterparts on the province’s socio-economic development in 2024, noting positive outcomes across economic, cultural, social, defense sectors, and social security and order.
Vietnam continues to prioritise inclusive policies for disadvantaged communities, ethnic minorities, and those with meritorious service. Notably, Phu Quoc city in Kien Giang has been selected as the host venue for the APEC Economic Leaders' Week in 2027. The province expressed hope for close coordination and support from the Cambodian government and localities to ensure the event's success.
Both sides reaffirmed the enduring solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia. Kien Giang and Cambodian localities pledged continued cooperation in border security, people-to-people support, and efforts to locate and repatriate remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Cambodia during the past wars.
The Kien Giang delegations expressed delight at Cambodia’s remarkable development and emphasised their commitments to preserving the friendship and fostering cooperation across sectors, contributing to shared growth, peace, and stability./.
The annual business dialogue in Cambodia attracted around 150 delegates, including Vietnamese businesses and Vietnamese-origin companies operating in Cambodia across various sectors such as finance, banking, insurance, telecommunications, agriculture, construction, interior design, food services, transportation, logistics, trade, healthcare, and tourism.
The Deputy Minister noted that the Vietnamese defence ministry is looking forward to the participation of the three counterparts, which would contribute to the celebration’s overall success and demonstrate solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and its three neighbouring countries.
In 2024, Cambodia cracked down 197 cases relating to human trafficking and sexual exploitation, an increase of over 20% compared to the previous year. The authorities identified 523 victims and arrested 273 suspects and sent them to court, including 30 foreigners.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years.
