Kaas sings Piaf to help Vietnamese kids

Well-known French singer Patricia Kaas will perform in Vietnam for the second time on May 14 at a charity concert in Ho Chi Minh City to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Vietnam.

Patricia firstperformed in Vietnam in 1994 at concerts in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh Cityduring her international tour "Tour de Charme".

"This is a veryspecial show as Vietnam was originally not on her tour. Patricia changedher mind and agreed to come back to the country where she sang 20 yearsago," said Patrick Desir, the founder of Poussieres de Vie.

The show commemorates 50 years of popularity of iconic songs by the late French chanteuse Edith Piaf.

Prior to her arrival in Vietnam for five days, Kass will be performing in Shanghai and Tokyo.

Aninheritor of Piaf's style, Kaas will sing 20 songs popularised by thefamed singer. She will also perform her own songs, and appear with herown band.

Some of Piaf's songs that Kaas will perform include LaVie en Rose (Life in Pink), L'Hymne a l'Amour (Hymn to Love), Non, Je NeRegrette Rien (No, I Regret Nothing), La Belle Histoire d'Amour(Beautiful Love Story) and Avec ce Soleil (With this Sun).

Kassparticipated in a gala dinner on May 12 night at the Sofitel SaigonPlaza Hotel in District 1 where participants will enjoy French food andmusic.

The singer donated clothing she wore at the CannesFestival, as well as another item, to an auction at the gala dinner toraise funds for Poussieres de Vie.

The "Kass Chante Piaf" (KaasSings Piaf) concert at Ben Thanh Theatre in District 1 is organised byHo Chi Minh City-based NGO Poussieres de Vie (Dust of Life) with thesupport of the French Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and TruongHai Auto Corporation.

All proceeds from the event will be used by Poussieres de Vie for projects that help disadvantaged children in Vietnam.-VNA
