Javelin throwers break world records at Para Games

Vietnamese javelin thrower Nguyen Thi Hai broke the world record at the ongoing seventh ASEAN Para-Games in Myanmar on January 19, bringing home an additional gold.

Hai won the top medal with the best throw of 24.88m in the women’s category while the world record was 23m.

Meanwhile, runner Nguyen Thi Thuy clinched the third gold for theathletics team after running the 100m in a time of 15:84

Vietnam’s other gold medal was pocketed by the women’s table tennis team after defeating their Indonesian rivals.

The Vietnamese team is currently placed in third with 46 golds,behind Indonesia and Thailand. Malaysia is chasing the pack and iscurrently on 40 golds.-VNA
