Phnom Penh (VNA) - Japanese aid to Cambodia since 1991 has totaled 2 billion USD by now, making Japan one of the m💯ain aid providers for the Southeast Asian country, according to a press release ofℱ the Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia.
In addition to official development assistance, Japan has provided low-interest loans for Cambodia to build infrastructure.
The two countries also cooperate in the fields of personnel training, technique and technology transfer and small projects of local administrations and non-governmental organisations.
Japan’s support for Cambodia focuses on society development management, infrastructure, education, social welfare, irrigation and judicial reform.
Currently, Japan is helping Cambodia upgrade national roads No.1 and No.5, build a multi-purpose harbour in Sihanoukville province and a national maternal and child health care centre, and popularise laws and regulations.
Japan-Cambodia trade relations are growing steadily. According to statistics in 2013, Japan imported 204 million USD worth of Cambodian commodities and earned 579 million USD from selling goods to Cambodian market.
