Bac Lieu (VNA) – A delegation from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO )’s office in HCM City made a trip to Bac Lieu on October 28 to learn about business environment and investment opportunities in the southern province.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan Nhu Nguyen introduced the guests to Bac Lieu’s advantages in agriculture and fishery. He noted that the province produces approximately one million tonnes of rice and 300,000 tonnes of seafood annually.

Nguyen emphasized that the province aims to become the biggest shrimp producer in Vietnam.

He hoped the Japanese business delegation will serve as a bridge to bring Japanese investors to the province to do business in hi-tech agriculture, agricultural machinery, post-harvest technologies and food industry.

Atsuko Fukagawa, deputy managing director of JETRO office in Ho Chi Minh City, said Japanese enterprises are shifting their investment to agriculture and fishery, in which Bac Lieu has advantages. She added that JETRO will communicate the province’s profile and needs to Japanese firms.

ও On the occasion, the delegation also visited the NIGICO seafood company, a Japanese company in Bac Lieu.-VNA
