Cau Giay High School in Hanoi started using a pilot IT-based classroom model on October 30. Funded by the Republic of Korea (RoK), it follows standards for educational facilities in the sponsor nation.
The classroom’s teacher uses advanced equipment that can display teaching materials using sound and images, and help students learn with all their senses. Testing and marking will be done through computer software, while experiments and interactive learning are an essential part of class activities.
Education and Training Deputy Minister Pham Manh Hung said the model enhances Vietnam’s teaching quality. He added that he expected the initiative to be replicated across the country. According to Hung, the ministry is also carrying out co-operation programmes on education and IT application with the RoK, such as the Virtual University at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and the e-learning project at Hanoi Open University. Since 2005, the RoK has helped many countries develop e-learning and IT in the classroom.-VNA
