Investors show interest in solar power projects in Khanh Hoa

Investors have shown interest in solar energy sector in the central coast province of Khanh Hoa, with about 10 solar projects applying for investment licenses in the province.

– Investors have shown interest in solar energy sector in the centralcoast province of Khanh Hoa, with about 10 solar projects applying for investmentlicenses in the province.

Local authorities consideredthe projects with great care, selecting only competent investors with advancedtechnology.

Three projects inthe field have been approved, according to the provincial Department of Planningand Investment.

They include a70-hectare plant in Cam Thinh Dong commune, Cam Ranh city with capacity of60MW. It is invested by the Song Giang Hydropower SJC at a total cost of morethan 2 trillion VND (88 million USD).

Another project ofsimilar size will be located in Thuy Ba and Tan An hamlets, Cam An Bac commune,Cam Lan district. The 50MW project, covering 70 hectares, will break ground atthe end of 2017 and be operational by the end of next year.

The last is a 10 MWsolar energy project in Cam Thinh Tay commune, Cam Ranh city that has totalinvestment of more than 400 billion VND (17.6 million USD). It is expected tobe capable of producing about 14.5 million KWh per year.

Khanh Hoa is alsoconsidering building a 100MW KN Van Ninh Solar Power Plant in Van Ninh districtwith a total investment of 2.4 trillion VND (105.6 million USD). If the projectis approved by provincial authorities in principle, it will be assessed by theMinistry of Industry and Trade before submission to Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc.

Also, HongKong-based firm Jinko Solar has proposed a 75-million-USD solar project in CamAn Bac and Cam An Nam communes.-VNA
