Inspection Commission announces results of 21st, 22nd sessions

Hanoi (VNA) – The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission announced the outcomes of its 21st and 22nd sessions in Hanoi on January 26. 

The sessions took place on January 3, 24 and 25 under the chair of Politburo member and head of the Inspection Commission Tran Quoc Vuong. 

During the sessions, the commission considered taking disciplinary measures against Le Phuoc Thanh who is former Secretary of the Party Committee of Quang Nam province and former Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Dinh Van Thu who is Vice Secretary of Quang Nam provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and Huynh Khanh Toan, member of the Standing Board of Quang Nam provincial Party Committee, and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee for their violations as concluded at the commission’s 20th session. 

It said the violations by Le Phuoc Thanh were very serious and requested the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat to impose punishment on Thanh. 

Meanwhile, the wrongdoings of Thu and Toan were serious, and the commission decided to give them a warning as a disciplinary measure. 

Members of the commission also looked into the outcomes of supervision on the leadership and instruction work of the party affairs committee of the Ministry of Transport regarding projects on upgrading National Highway 1; criticism work at the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Science and Technology, Planning and Investment, Finance, Construction regarding their responsibilities for law violations in the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and the marine environment incident caused by the Formosa Ha Tinh steel project. 

They examined the outcomes of inspections on the performance of the standing board and the Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee in implementing working regulations in the 2015-2020 tenure, as well as the performance of the standing board and Secretary of the Hai Duong provincial Party Committee in personnel work, land use and management of investment projects. 

The inspection, supervision and discipline work of the standing boards and Inspection Commissions of the Party Committees of Nghe An province and Military Zone 4 were also considered. 

The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission also dealt with a case of complaint, and mulled over a report on inspection of violations in the Standing Board of the Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region and several individuals. 

The commission gave feedback on a draft regulating its responsibilities and power in the fight against corruption to submit to the Politburo for consideration.-VNA
