Initiatives support ethnic minority women in Dak Nong

Various support initiatives have helped female ethnic minorities in Central Highlands Dak Nong province improve their living conditions, as heard during a conference held in the locality on October 29

Various support initiatives have helped female ethnic minorities in Central Highlands Dak Nong province improve their living conditions, as heard during a conference held in the locality on October 29. Over the past five years, local women’s unions have organised 300 vocational training courses attracting 12,300 attendees, many of them owning no land for cultivation.
They have also launched 17 surveys and consultations benefiting 11,000 women. Meanwhile, 110 social clubs, concerning parenting, traditional culture, and afforestation, among others, were established with members now reaching 3,500.
More than 13,000 needy ethnic women have accessed non-interest loans. These practical initiatives will continue being implemented looking forward. The Central Highlands has five provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong which consist of 62 districts; 726 communes; and 7,833 wards, hamlets and villages, about one third of which have more than 50 percent of their population being ethnic minority people.-VNA
