Hanoi (VNA) 𝓰– The Indonesian parliament has demanded Facebook to hand overits audit on the data leak that had affected millions of users.

The leakcould be inappropriately used for political interest related to the upcomingelections in the country, the Indonesian parliament said. Thedemand was conveyed by legislators in a hearing held in Indonesia on April 17with Facebook Indonesia Public Policy chief Ruben Hattari and FacebookAsia-Pacific Public Policy chief Simon Milner. Alegislator of the parliament, Meutya Hafid, said that document of Facebookaudit must be handed over within one month after the hearing, so as to ensurethe data will not be used for political misconduct. Speakingwith reporters on the sidelines of the hearing, Meutya Hafid said the Indonesianparliament has to know that the data was used by which party and for whatpurpose. ShouldFacebook fails to do so, the parliament would recommend the government takemoratorium step against Facebook in its operation in Indonesia, she added.     Facebookis the most popular social media application in Indonesia, subscribed by nearlyhalf of the country’s population. It is facing a major scandal after a massive leak ofuser information to British political consultancy Cambridge Analytica.-VNA
