– The Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam held a banquet onSeptember 6 to mark the 72nd anniversary of the National IndependenceDay (August 17).

At the event, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi expressed his delightover the robust development in the bilateral relations with Vietnam in the pastyears.

Two-way trade in the first six months of 2017 rose 24 percent and is likely toreach 7 billion USD by the end of 2017, he said, adding that aviationconnection is being expanded with the cooperation between Garuda, the nationalairline of Indonesia, and Vietnam Airlines, and the opening of a new service byVietjet Air.

Ibnu Hadi took the occasion to thank the Vietnamese Government and people forsupporting Indonesia in the past years and expressed his hope that twocountries will enjoy further development in their relations with effectivecooperation in various fields.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Dinh Quy congratulated the IndonesianGovernment and people over their achievements in national construction.

He highlighted that Indonesia was among the world’s top 10 exporters in 2016and has become an attractive destination for foreign investors. The country isan important member of the ASEAN bloc with increasing position and prestige inthe regional and international arena.

The deputy minister stressed that Vietnam always cherishes relations withIndonesia, and noted that Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s officialvisit to Indonesia last August opened up a new historic page, taking thebilateral relations to a new height.

Quy believed that with common efforts made by the two countries, the strategicpartnership relations will be deepened for mutual benefits of the two peoplesin the coming time.-VNA
