Indonesia’s Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has announced an additional 21 cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, bringing the total to 68 cases.

Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia’s Health Minister Budi GunadiSadikin has announced an additional 21 cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant,bringing the total to 68 cases.

Allof the 21 cases were imported, mostly from Turkey and the United Arab Emirates(UAE), the minister said. The country has detected only one case of Omicronwithin the community so far.

Toprevent the spread of the variant, the Indonesian Government on December 27decided to increase the number of PCR tests for people entering the country tothree.

Currently,Indonesians returning home and tourists must quarantined for 10 days atdesignated lodging establishments or quarantine facilities./.
