Indonesia ready to retain fishery exports: minister

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fish💫eries (KKP)is ready to maintain the scope of acceptance of marine and fishery productsfrom the country to 171 countries worldwide, a senior official has said.

In a statement released on January 6, Acting Head of the Fish Quarantine,Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products Agency (BKIPM) at the KKP HariMaryadi said that last year Indonesia’s marine and fishery products penetrated171 of 195 countries in the world with the acceptance ratio of 98 percent.

To ensure that marine and fishery products are truly accepted in exportdestination countries, the BKIPM continues to bolster various forms of synergyand collaboration with various institutions, including a cooperation agreementwith PT Angkasa Pura II to increase direct calls for fishery products fromvarious airports in Indonesia to destination countries, he said.

Maryadi noted that direct calls are able to overcome problems faced bybusinesses, such as operating costs while exporting, especially the possibility that product's quality is affected due to long transportation.

Indonesia's fishery production potential had reached 916.200 tonnes on the islandof Sumatra, 247,000 tonnes in Kalimantan, and 232.400 tonnes on the island of Java,he sa🐓id./.
