Jakarta (VNA) –Indonesia’s Perkasa Flying School announced on July 2 it willprovide scholarship opportunities for ten Palestinian youths to become pilots,according to the Indonesian news agency, Antara.
The registration of the pilot scholarshipprogramme is open from July 2-31, 2018 and the selection process will beconducted in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Jordan.
The school’s founder and CEO SeptoAdjie Sudiro described this as a good opportunity for Palestinian youths to developa career as commercial pilots.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan,Andy Rachmianto, welcomed the pilot scholarship programme, saying Indonesiawill continue to be at the forefront in supporting Palestinians.
The Indonesian Government highlyappreciates every initiative and positive step taken by individuals orinstitutions in providing Palestinians with aid programmes, he said.
Since its election to be anon-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2019-2020,Indonesia has made Palestinian issues a priority, the ambassador stressed.
Since 2008, the Indonesian Government hasprovided building assistance to more than 1,800 Palestinians through 158programmes, with a value of more than 10 million USD.
Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment tosupporting and assisting Palestine at the meeting of foreign ministers ofCEAPAD III (Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries forPalestinian Development) in Bangkok, Thailand on June 26-27, 2018.
In the meeting, Indonesian Foreign Minister RetnoMarsudi conveyed the country’s commitment in the CEAPAD 2019-2021 three yearplan to provide Palestine with assistance worth 2 million USD in the form ofcapacity building programmes. -VNA
