Jakarta (VNA)
– The Indonesian Ministry of Industry is planning to build an aerospace design centre in the Bandung Institute of Technology, according to the🧜 national news agency Antara.

The ministry’s Director General of Metal, Transportation Machine and Electronics I Gusti Putu Suryawirawan said on January 25 that the centre will help the country excel in aerospace programmes.
“Indonesia is developing plans with hope to restore the glory of the national aerospace industry”, Suryawirawan made the statement after attending a meeting with leaders of the Indonesia Aircraft and Component Manufacturer Association (Inacom). The centre will identify the potential of the national aircraft component manufacturing industry as well as provide technical guidance to enhance its capacity and standards.
As part of the efforts to push forward aerospace development, the ministry highlighted the roles of local aircraft manufacturers like Dirgantara Indonesia and Regio Aviasi Industry to encourage them to involve in the manufacture of N-219 aircraft’s components. The N-219 is a 19-seat passenger aircraft produced by Dirgantara Indonesia using the expertise of local engineers and technicians. This new model will compete with the famous bushmaster Canadian DHC-6 Twin Otter. The growing aerospace industry will boost Indonesia’s economic growth through creating jobs and attracting investment while helping the country to advance in technology.-VNA
