Indonesia plans to build various national data centres

Jakarta (VNA) – The Ministry of Communication and Informatics ofIndonesia is aiming to complete and inaugurate a national data centre in Bekasidistrict, West Java province, by October 2024.

Director General of Informatics Applications at the ministrySemuel Pangerapan on June 19 said that another in Batam city is currently inthe tender process and is expected to be completed by 2025.

Meanwhile, data centres in two other regions - the new statecapital in East Kalimantan and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara - are still inthe planning stage.

The construction of the centres is part of the government's programme toprepare facilities to implement an electronic-based government system (SPBE),which is expected to support the realisation of Indonesia One Data to supportnational interests.

The development of these centres is also being undertakenfor ensuring a more efficient government.

The Indonesian government is preparing to issue a ministerialregulation on the national data centre, including its safety standards, incoordination and collaboration with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency(BSSN), Pangerapan added./.
