The Indonesian government plans to increase foreign flights to Soeharno-Hatta International Airport in the capital city Jakarta by 40 percent by the end of the year after the airport opened a new terminal on May 1.

Jakarta (VNA) – The Indonesian government plans toincrease foreign flights to Soeharno-Hatta International Airport in the capitalcity Jakarta by 40 percent by the end of the year after the airport opened anew terminal on May 1. The new Terminal 3 has a capacity of 25 million passengers ayear. The two existing terminals are also being upgraded andexpanded to increase their combined annual capacity to 18 million passengers. Adding more international flights will attract moreinternational travellers while helping increase the country’s foreign currencyreserve and contributing to national economic growth, said TransportationMinister Budi Karya Sumadi. The country has set a target of serving 20 millionforeign visitors by 2019. It welcomed around 11.52 million foreign visitors in2016.-VNA
