Jakarta (VNA) –𝔍 Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has said that fuel subsidies remain in place, while leaving open the possibility of phasing out the programme by 2027.

According to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, an inter-ministerial discussion is underway to evaluate fuel subsidy policies, which continue to effectively support low-income workers.
Bahlil also revealed that the Government is preparing a new energy subsidy distribution plan, covering fuel, electricity, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Earlier, Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan suggested that fuel subsidies could be abolished by 2027, as Indonesia moves toward a single fuel pricing policy. He also noted that artificial intelligence (AI) could play a role in improving the implementation and efficiency under the new system./.
