Indonesia commits to protecting workers overseas

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on March 11 that it is committed to bringing policy innovations and better protection for Indonesian citizens working overseas.

Jakarta (VNA) - The Indonesian Ministryof Foreign Affairs stated on March 11 that it is committed to bringing policy innovationsand better protection for Indonesian citizens working overseas.

The message was conveyed by Minister Marsudi during her visit to Singapore.

To provide service to Indonesians overseas,starting on April 1, 2018, all Indonesian representatives overseas will graduallyapply an Information System of Indonesian Citizens Service and Protectionaccessible in the Peduli WNI website.

Peduli WNI website is a service system forIndonesians overseas which is integrated online with national civil data of theMinistry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Immigration, Ministry of Law and HumanRights, and employment data of the Agency for the Placement and Protection ofIndonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) and the Ministry of Manpower.


During a meeting with around 4,500 Indonesianworkers in Singapore, Marsudi launched three innovations on Indonesian workersprotection, which are the Indonesian worker card for seamen; Job Order Online,an application for private recruitment agencies and working partners; BPJS OnI-PIS, a data integration of the Workers Social Security Agency for Indonesianworkers in Singapore.

These innovations will help the IndonesiaGovernment, competent bodies and enterprises closely monitor Indonesiansoverseas.

Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Ngurah Swajayasaid the Embassy will do its utmost to deliver the best services for Indonesiancitizens in Singapore.-VNA
